PROGRAM COMMITTEES
Program committees are formed to plan & execute a specific event or fundraiser, and then your job is done!

Year-Round Committees: Communication, Membership/Hospitality, Sponsorships/Donations, Special Education, Bylaws/Procedures, Budget
Temporary Committees: Nominating, Audit
Chairs are appointed by the officers (unless otherwise specified below). They're part of the executive board & will attend board meetings.
Committee Members (non chairs) do not attend board meetings.
HOW YOU CAN HELP: Keep our members up-to-date! We'd love your help in any of these ways:
- Update website (no coding! very simple, it's drag-and-drop similar to microsoft word)
- Facebook & Instagram
- Design flyers & newsletters
- Emails to membership
- Publicity with local news stations & press
HOW YOU CAN HELP: Aims to increase membership through parent & teacher recruitment! We'd love your help in any of these ways:
- Open houses/orientations
- Network with local Pre-Ks
- PTA Membership booth at PTA events/other local events
- Meet & Greets
- Teacher Appreciation Week & other giveback programs for staff
- Collaborate with Teacher Liaisons
HOW YOU CAN HELP: Secures yearly sponsorships for our PTA, sponsorships for specific events & donations for raffles. We'd love your help in any of these ways:
- Build relationships with local businesses
- Request yearly & event sponsorships
- Work with event committees to request raffle donations
- Send thank you notes to businesses who partner with PTA
- Keep running list of businesses on spreadsheet
HOW YOU CAN HELP: Support & advocate for students with special needs (including gifted & talented). We'd love your help in any of these ways:
- Work with board to ensure program accommodations for students with special needs
- Spearhead/plan programs that increase acceptance
- Advocate for needs of special education and gifted & talented students
HOW YOU CAN HELP: Collaborate with executive board on ensuring Bylaws & Procedures are up-to-date with current practices. We'd love your help in any of these ways:
- Write procedures for our new PTA
- Update procedures as needed
- Keep a running list of desired bylaws changes
- Update bylaws every 3 years, or sooner if urgent
- Update procedures with amendments, addendums & new processes, as needed
HOW YOU CAN HELP: Work alongside treasurer on budget & all financial reports for meetings. We'd love your help in any of these ways:
- Recap financial performance of events & fundraisers
- Prepare annual budget
- Prepare financial reports for meetings
HOW: Elected in Jan
COMPOSED OF: 7 members. 4 will be general members (non-board) & will be elected by the membership in February. 3 will be current executive board members & will be elected by the executive board in February.
REPORTS TO: The committee is self-governed & expected to be confidential & impartial.
JOB: Select the proposed slate of officers for the next executive board. This slate will be voted on at the election in April.
The nominating committee plays a crucial role in the success of our PTA!
You are still allowed to run for a board position if you serve on the nominating committee.
NEXT STEP: Express interest in serving on the nominating committee
HOW: Appointed by the executive board in June
COMPOSED OF: 3 members not on the executive committee
REPORTS TO: The committee is self-governed & will request information from treasurer, but will not report to the treasurer.
JOB: Review the financials provided by the treasurer.
Cross-check the unit's finances to make sure that all is accurate & to rule out the possibility of accounting errors.
The fiscal year runs July 1 - June 30. Auditing the books will occur in July & August after the end of the fiscal year.
The audit committee will report their findings to the general membership.

FACULTY REPS
Faculty representatives will report the wants of staff to the PTA board, and collaborate on programs.
Teacher Liaisons will be appointed by the PTA officers.
