TEMPORARY COMMITTEES
These committees are formed for a brief amount of time to work on a specific task, and then your job is done!
Programming committees plan & bring an event / fundraiser to fruition. They report to the VP of AMPS and/or Laddie. When the event is over, your job is complete!
Click on each link below for a list of programs organized by season, so you can allocate your time accordingly. Read about each program & how you can help!
A committee will form for each program. You're not signing up for an entire season.

HOW: Elected in Jan
COMPOSED OF: 7 members. 4 will be general members (non-board) & will be elected by the membership. 3 will be current executive board members & will be elected by the executive board.
REPORTS TO: The committee is self-governed & expected to be confidential & impartial.
JOB: Select the proposed slate of officers for the next executive board. This slate will be voted on at the election in April.
The nominating committee plays a crucial role in the success of our PTA!
You are still allowed to run for a board position if you serve on the nominating committee.
NEXT STEP: Express interest in serving on the nominating committee
HOW: Appointed by the executive board in June
COMPOSED OF: 3 members not on the executive committee
REPORTS TO: The committee is self-governed & will request information from treasurer, but will not report to the treasurer.
JOB: Review the financials provided by the treasurer.
Cross-check the unit's finances to make sure that all is accurate & to rule out the possibility of accounting errors.
The fiscal year runs July 1 - June 30. Auditing the books will occur in July & August after the end of the fiscal year.
The audit committee will report their findings to the general membership.
STANDING COMMITTEES
Standing committees serve the whole year.
Chairs are appointed by the officers, are part of the executive board & will attend board meetings.
Committee members volunteer for their role & are not on the executive board.
REPORTS TO: Secretary & program committee in charge of relevant event
JOB: Manage website & social media (facebook & instagram). Update with events, flyers, minutes, agenda, photos, etc. Backend admin tasks. Monitor for questions & comments from community. Create flyers & newsletter. Compose wording for messages, manage email contact list & text subscriber list. Contact press & local news to attend / report on our events for publicity.

REPORTS TO: VPs of AMPS & Laddie
JOB: Recruit parents member via kindergarten orientation, networking with Pre-Ks, membership booth at PTA/other local events, arranging meet & greets etc.
Recruit staff members via teacher appreciation & other giveback programs, collaboration with Teacher Liaisons etc.

REPORTS TO: Board & any program committee having raffle/auction
JOB: Solicit yearly & specific event sponsorships from businesses. Work hand-in-hand with program committees to secure in-kind (item) donations from businesses for auctions or raffles etc.
Keep list of businesses on excel. Issue tax receipts / thank you notes to all donors & sponsors.

REPORTS TO: VPs of AMPS & Laddie
JOB: Work with the team to ensure that students with special needs are accommodated in programming wherever feasible. Suggest programs on topics that can help increase acceptance for exceptional children.
Inform the board of changes in the law & policies that may affect students with special needs. Advocate for the needs of special education and gifted & talented students in our school district.

REPORTS TO: Executive officers
JOB: Update bylaws every 3 years, or sooner if urgent. If changes can wait, keep a running list of changes to execute during the next schedule bylaws review.
Update standing rules (informally referred to as 'procedures') with amendments, addendums & new processes as needed.

REPORTS TO: Treasurer
JOB: Works alongside treasurer to prepare & present both the annual budget & all financial reports for meetings. Works with program committees to recap financial performance of events & fundraisers.

FACULTY REPS
Faculty representatives will report the wants of staff to the PTA board, and collaborate on programs.
Teacher Liaisons will be appointed by the PTA officers.

JOB: Represents the desires of staff at AMPS to the executive board, collaborates on programming & works in tandem with committees on recruiting staff membership & staff participation in programming.
